Laptop To Desktop - Transformers!

Laptop To Desktop - Transformers!
Not long ago people were inspired by laptops! The only problem with laptops was that they climbed down if compared to desktops. Today everything is different – laptops have caught up with desktops, when it is about specs, and exceeded them in terms of comfort and portability.

The comfort and the need to use a PC (mainly Internet) wherever you need it comes as a major priority and PC portability is a most wanted feature. On the other hand, there are people such as Yong-Seong Kim – the designer who considers that we have come to a point when we need it vice-versa: to transform a laptop in a desktop. (Watch out it’s from the “Transformers”!) The designer actually offers a really ingenious docking solution. Yong-Seong Kim’s solution is just a response to the existing demands on the gadgets market!

The very idea consists of a huge slot behind the LCD display, that allows you to slide your laptop in without too much effort. This makes it possible for you to use all data you have on your laptop accessing it as you’d do from a regular desktop. The very display of the laptop can also be used as a secondary screen, this time vertically.

I must be honest the concept sounds and looks pretty good, but it is rather more eye candy than practical.

The question I ask myself is – how am I going to use it? The answer is ‘just the same as I’d have done with my regular laptop’. So, why do I need it then?

Throwing away my cynic moods, I can admit the fact that this creation is meant for those who want it work FANCY, but it is less attractive to those who want it JUST work!

By the way, some tend to somehow compare the concept of the “laptop-transformers” with the Palm Folio. Well, for me it’s not really like that. See for yourself whether it suits you or not!

Another CeBIT - Further Razer Novelties
This year’s CeBIT has been kindly offered some 2 square yards in Hanover, Germany. On this limited space hundreds of leading technology companies have managed to place their stands to display their newest accomplishments in their particular sphere of activity.

Macko 2.1 acoustic system from RazerThe Company Razer, which is known for its innovative ideas in the sphere of different PC peripherals and accessories, has presented the wide public its newest acoustic system. the Macko 2.1 is a 2.1 acoustic system, which, according to the statement of its developers, is the first ever sound system to support the THX Ground Plane technology and the THX Slot Speaker technology.

The two technologies are meant to improve the sound produced by the system. This improvement is being achieved by removing the sound artifacts, which are produced when the sound waves reflect from the table or any other surface. This way the Mako 2.1 sound system produces pure and high-quality 3D sound.

Mako 2.1 is based on the Bi-amplified system. This system features 2 amplifiers in every speaker, thus providing each of the two speakers with a total power of 100 Watt. In addition the set is complemented with a 100 Watt sub-woofer. This way the overall power of the Macko 2.1 is about 300 watt!!! The range of frequencies of this gadget is between 30 and 20,000 Hz. All these features make the Macko 2.1 the best choice for hardcore gamers and music fans: this acoustic system will satisfy their need in every acoustical detail they would ever want to hear.

So you see that the Macko 2.1 is quite a powerful piece, and according to the picture it is also a stylish one. I think it would look nice at my gradma’s fireplace. For listening relaxing music like Bach, Mozart… and shooting all those bad guys down in Counter-strike!

Unfortunately there was still no word the pricing of this sound system, but I guess it’ll be affordable, though not for many. As you know Razer wouldn’t make anything that you couldn’t describe as WOW, or OWESOME, or GREAT. These guys know what there doing.

So enjoy the sound and Cheers!
