Fusion-IO has designed the world’s fastest hard drive - the IoDrive. Fusion states the drive is as quick as DRAM with the storage capacity of a hard drive. This allows for lightning fast data transfers. IoMemory, another Fusion-IO innovation, is the secret behind the IoDrive’s future success. IoMemory bridges the gap between memory and storage. It combines “today’s higher density NAND with high speed switching and network protocols.”

The IoDrive installs into any available PCIe x4 connector. This positions it a lot closer to the CPU than conventional drive. The IoDrive places hard drive data on the same level as a server’s memory. Since it is silicon based, the IoDrive fits in perfectly with both the CPU and DRAM. The IoDrive is almost a thousand times faster than any other hard drive on the market today. The IoDrive can read data at 700MB/sec and write data at 600MB/sec. It can also serve as storage cache or local storage.
