The Time Capsule is a combination wireless hard drive and base station. Time Capsule has the following dimensions: 7.7″ length, 7.7″ width, 1.4″ height and weighs a petite 3.5 pounds. Two models are currently available: 500 GB storage or a full 1 TB. Apple’s Time Capsule is also compatible with other wireless devices like iPods, Apple TV and iPhones.
Time Capsule’s backup feature is easiest with a Mac OS X Leopard using Time Machine. Choose the Time Capsule as your computer’s designated backup drive. Your computer will begin wirelessly transmitting data to the Time Capsule performing a complete backup. Depending on how much data you have, this initial backup can take a while. It is best to do this at night before going to bed so that your computer can continue working while you’re asleep. After this backup, only changed files will be wirelessly transmitted to the Time Capsule. This happens automatically. Backing up your data cannot get easier than this. Time Capsule receives data just as easily from several Leopard class Macs as from one. Apple storage gadget can back up data wirelessly for your entire Mac network. Windows and Tiger users will have to do a little bit more work to backup their data. They need to access Time Capsule using the wireless network for storing and exchanging files.
You can easily attach a printer to Apple’s Time Capsule through its USB port. All of the computers on your network - both Apple and PC - will be able to access this printer wirelessly.
