Share the Music

With more than 4,000 iPod accessories, it takes a phenomenal gadget to stand out from the crowd. MiShare is one such gadget. MiShare is the brainchild of two Brooklyn, NY based designers. Their concept is simple - sharing music between two iPods. This is an idea that has been done before but not as well as the miShare. One of the first issues that the developers faced was making sure that they did not violate digital rights management software protected songs from places like the iTunes Store. MiShare, unlike the original Napster, is designed for one to one file sharing. DRM protected songs will transfer but the new owner must contact iTunes Store for authorization and password.

MiShare

MiShare is simple and easy to use. You are able to transfer music, video, photos and other files without a computer or any cables. The sender iPod is known as the pitcher and the receiving iPod is the catcher. Create an “on the go playlist” for the “pitcher” iPod. The “catcher” iPod needs to be in manual mode. MiShare has two 30 pin connectors on each side. Connect the “pitcher” to MiShare’s source connector and the “catcher” to the other connector. Push MiShare’s only button to initiate transfer. MiShare is a USB 2.0 device allowing file transfers to occur at the highest rates possible. An average transfer rate is 500 kb/second.

MiShare LLC’s cofounder is Nathaniel Wice. He describes MiShare as a constant work in progress. Currently MiShare is not compatible with all iPods. Other iPods can only be “pitchers” or “catchers” but not both. The developers will be releasing updated software to correct these and other known issues in a few weeks. Further plans include making MiShare iPhone and the Touch compatible with a later update.

MiShare costs $99. It is amazingly efficient gadget. Its work in progress mind set is troublesome. Never release a product until you have at least 99% of the bugs worked out of it. MiShare is a product which is long overdue. MP3 players in general, and iPods in particular, have joined the elite group of products like television sets and computers that are part of every modern home.

A Real Kick in the Pants

Okay, so its really a punch in the chest with the new gaming vest available from TN Games.

fdvgsdv

This new gadget is a full upper body vest that connects via USB to your shooting game, and allows you to feel like you are really there in the middle of the action. The software that comes with the vest links to several games already available on the market. Then as you play your game, you will feel each “hit” and even feel it WHERE you are “hit.” Next time you take a “bullet to the shoulder” you will feel a punch from your gaming vest!

The most recent convention that this vest was shown at left players with indelible smiles as they left the display booth. They were shocked at the realistic feel and the inherent adrenaline rush they got from playing such a realistic version of their favorite games.

The question remains, though, who truly wants to get beaten up by their video game? There are bound to be millions. Of those millions, there may be many that have actually lived through the situations, and are still just as interested in playing the games using the vest.

An interview of an avid game player, and decorated Army combat veteran revealed that the soldiers coming home from serving for the United States in Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq are just as willing and eager to try this device. This may appeal to them as well if they have a few friends or relatives who do not understand exactly what they had to deal with in the war zone. This incredible technology puts the player into the game, rather than having them play as a spectator. What better way to understand your loved one than to virtually step into their Kevlar and experience it for yourself.

The Air Force veterans will also get a kick out of this vest. That’s right, not only can you feel bullets hit you, switch over to play a game that has you flying fighter jets and you will feel the “g-force” of the plane as you fly. You will also feel the shake of the plane if it is struck by enemy fire.

This new toy is available already, and can be used with 11 popular games that you may already have in your game library. Check them out at the TN Games website!

Keep Your Perimeter Secure

Even if it is your cubicle, you can keep others from crossing into your space with laser trip wires.

xxx

Now you can set up a 007 perimeter that only you know how to get through. The laser trip wires are available for consumer purchase and set up in seconds. Just line them up where you need to know something is passing, and be satisfied that you will be alerted when you need to. You can line them up along doorways, windows, desktops, or even a driveway.

Never wonder if someone is sneaking up on you, know for sure.

This spy gadget is reasonable in price, and compares to professional types that are used in well known places like museum displays. Now you too can enjoy the feeling of security within your own predetermined area that the jewelry stores feel when they put expensive items on display.

The alarm on the laser trip wires is set off by the laser line being breached. The incredibly loud 48 decibel alarm sounds for 5 seconds, sufficiently scaring off an intruder, and alerting you to their presence. The prospective burglar will be startled into immediate retreat, and the little brother will likely never venture through your door again.

The easy set up allows for quick adjustments and movement to the areas needed. It also comes with a spray bottle for water that will allow the lines to be seen when sprayed on them.

Invite your friends over and set up a 007 maze to challenge each other to work through. Its like a new techie version of skill similar to the operation game of childhood. Only now, the sound reaches much higher decibels. Can you worm your way through?

The Next 007 Watch!

Feel like the worlds best spy guy with the new camera watch from Casio!

casio

This new spy-like gadget will take pictures that can be for ‘your eyes only” on your tiny 1MB camera, or use the IR port to transfer the images to your computer.

casio

The time is not enough any longer. Now the watches that are on the future plans tables have to include some sort of fancy addition. There are watches that can track the wearer via GPS, there are watches that read the temperature, and there are watches that have a barometer. Now the digital camera is an obvious addition to the market.Be careful what you wish for though, because the gadgets may become more tempting than one realizes. The camera watch was just recently in the news, not for its technological prowess, but for the resulting inappropriate use of it.In Thailand, a student was expelled from University for cheating on a test. He was wearing a camera watch that was taking pictures of a test and sending it to another student elsewhere on campus. The other student then sent the answers to the test back via text messages. This stands as a warning to those of us who value our privacy. There could be someone taking pictures of us from their wristwatch, so always be aware of your surroundings. You never know where the next camera will appear (and not be seen by the general public.)The Casio version allows the user to take around 100 pictures, as well as take them in black and white, add comments to them, and then transfer all the images their computer. The advances open a world of picture taking that has not been seen before. The perspective of a person’s wrist height will allow many of us to remember the world as seen by a child. Perhaps that can be the next advertisement for the watch!

C-Jump - Winning Educational Tool or Wipe Out

C-jump Factory’s latest game, C-jump Ski and Snowboard Race, is a “Computer Programming Board Game.” C-jump Factory designed it to teach young children the basics of computer languages like C++, Java and C. C-jumps game designer describes game play. “The child calculates number of steps in the move, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication of small numbers. The game helps to develop understanding of a complete computer program, formed by logical sequences of commands… By moving around the board, entering loops, branching under conditional and switch statements, the players gain physical experience of a complete program. Understanding of the internal action of a computer is essential to understanding what software is. Static program causes dynamic process in the computer. By playing the game, players see this process as physical and spacial motion.” Good communication is the core of any teaching endeavor. C-jump fails to communicate its idea to parents and teachers with language like this.

C-jump Ski

C-jump endeavors to teach children such concepts as “goto,” “if-then,” “if-then-else,” variables, loops and the break command. The game board gives a clear description of each term when a player reaches it. This is the core of the game’s problem. Looking at the board is like standing at the bottom of Mt. Everest and looking up. Most children will ask, “Do I have to play that?” C-jump more closely resembles the Periodic Table of Elements than a game board. C-jump might be successful if a child played it for months. Repetition, questions and answers would help the concepts to sink in.

The idea behind C-jump is a sound one. Children need to be exposed to computer programming at an early age. A game that teaches children computer programing is an excellent idea. It would be a lot more effective if it was released as a game for the PC or one of the portable game consoles. Children could write small programs and see the programs run on the screen. If a company like C-jump Factory could negotiate a deal with Disney, Pokemon, Sonic or some other game franchise to lend their characters to an educational game, that game would be a lot more successful. The franchise characters will draw attention to the game and sound game design will educate children in game programming. It would be a win/win solution.

A Multimedia Typhoon

Helio’s latest gadget is Ocean. Calling it a cell phone would be to grossly mislabel all of the powerful features Helio has packed within it. Ocean is a portable communication center that provides 5.1 hours of cell talk time. Its dimensions are 4.33″ x 2.20″ x .86″ and weighs 5.61 ounces. Ocean features include 2.0 MegaPixel Digital Camera, Bluetooth compatible, Video Camera, MP3 player and Photo caller ID. Ocean’s features a 2.4 inch QVGA touch screen display at 240 x 320 resolution.

helio

David Talbot in Soul of the Machine, describes Helio’s Ocean unique design. “Jun’s solution: give the device not two orientations but three. The first orientation, of course, is vertical–for the phone. The second, with the QWERTY keyboard open, is horizontal; in this configuration, the d-pad is on the right, for scrolling through messages. The Ocean’s software changes the orientation of the displayed material depending on which slider is pulled out. But Jun asked game manufacturers to give Helio versions of their software that essentially played upside down. Flip the device 180 degrees, keeping both sliders closed, and the game is now playing right-side up–with the datapad on the left. “That was a nice move on his part, so it doesn’t undermine the gaming experience.”

Ocean’s best feature is its E-mail mastery. It is easy to mange multiple accounts with Helio’s communication device. Ocean has a message dashboard that easily accesses Yahoo Messenger and E-mail, AOL Messenger and E-mail, Gmail, Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger and E-mail, Helio E-mail and Earthlink E-mail. Ocean also supports push mail. It can receive from MSN Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL. Ocean can even wirelessly synchronize with Microsoft Outlook. This is your complete E-mail handling device.

Helio’s Ocean also masters multiple contact lists. It synchronizes AOL, Yahoo and Helio Mail address books. Begin typing the person you want to contact and Ocean searches through all three address books to find his address. It will also let you know if he is currently logged into a supported Messenger account. (Yahoo, AOL, or Windows Live)

Helio’s Ocean sells for $199. It is a powerful communication device that is a must have for road warriors. With Ocean, you wield a power communication device in a compact size.

Shift Into Ultra Light

HTC announced their plans for their latest gadget, a little more than a year ago. The HTCX9000 Shift CDMA is a 800 MHz ultra mobile PC with 1 GB of memory. With dimensions of 8.2 x 5.1 x 1 inches and a weight of 1.8 pounds, HTC’s latest gadget is definitely ultra compact. Shift includes HTC SnapVUE software, a streamlined version of Windows Mobile. This allows you to quickly gain access to contacts, calendar and E-mail. This is an excellent feature for an ultra light PC to have. Windows Vista is also included if you need to use more powerful applications.

HTCX9000 Shift CDMA

The HTCX9000 does not come with a long list of features. This UMPC central feature is a sliding mini-keyboard. HTC is to be commended for its quality construction of the Shift. The mini-keyboard moves smoothly but securely when you turn the UMPC into a laptop. The reduced keyboard means that you probably won’t write your next novel on it, but it is large enough that you can type and edit most documents. Function Keys 1thru10 are combined with the number keys and require combination keyboarding to use. F11 and F12 have been completely removed from the HTCX9000 Shift. The keyboard also lacks back lighting. You will need to have a light source nearby for late night keyboarding.

HTCX9000 Shift CDMA

HTCX9000 Shift’s touchscreen can easily rotate into your designed position. HTC includes a one-button resolution change - from 1024 x 600 down to 800 x 480. Shift also features speakers, a tiny trackpad, SD expansion slot, webcam 40 GB hard drive and fingerprint scanner. It is WiFi and Bluetooth compatible. You can receive E-mail messages instantly due to Microsoft’s Direct Push.

The HTCX9000 will sell for $1499. It is only available for pre-ordering now. With the different options available today, the HTCX9000 Shift seems to be lacking. If portability is more important to you than processing power, the Shift could be the UMPC for you. Its lightweight would meet the needs for a business traveler with modest computing needs. Windows Vista can run on the Shift, but it runs slowly. Most consumers would be better off shifting to another company and spending t$1500 on a slightly heavier but more powerful laptop.

Flat-Fold Gas Can

Get the gas to the stranded car, then fold it flat and tuck it away!

We all have someone we know that is so scatterbrained that they run out of gas all the time. By the same token, we also realize that cars are not infallible. The gas gauge can stop functioning, or even read incorrectly. We can get lost and expend more fuel than we thought we would, and stall out before we make it to the next petrol station.

Gas Can

If any of these have happened to you lately, you will also realize that most petrol stations do not sell cans to dispense the petrol anymore. The liability of the older cans has become too daunting to station owners, and the items are no longer in the stores.

The safest solution available these days is the fold-flat Gas-O-Haul. Be prepared next time the non so reliable car decides to sputter out of petrol 5 blocks from the petrol station. Keep this cardboard fuel container in the boot, under the carpet, and no one will be the wiser about your sneaky little forgetfulness of reading that dial before taking off for that drive.

This container will hold a full gallon of fuel, which is enough to get to a petrol station in short order. And for the adventurous spirits, other liquids can be put into the container for the impromptu picnic.

Don’t worry about spilling the petrol when you fill the tank either, it comes with a detachable hose that will help guide the petrol into the tank safely.

The answer for the forgetful friend, the busy mom, or the husband with the scatterbrained wife that always runs down his petrol tank. The small package can be placed under the carpet of the boot, under the seat, wherever without taking up much space. The safest way to carry petrol can give you the opportunity to rescue that damsel in distress on the roadway, or sail in to save the day for your scatterbrained sweetheart.

Never pay to tow your automobile 3 blocks again, use the gas-o-haul to fill the tank enough to get to that petrol station.

Built-in Bluetooth

Never lose your blue tooth again with this cellular phone with the blue tooth that is attached.

mooon+phone

Etiquette requires business people and busy people alike to remove the blue tooth ear piece when they are not actually talking on the device. This allows other people to know whether or not they can speak to someone. No one would normally begin a conversation or ask a question of someone that is on the phone. Yet when people have a blue tooth earpiece, it is impossible to tell if they are in the midst of a phone call or are available to talk.

The Mooon+Phone is a great solution. Most of the time, people leave their blue tooth in their ear so that they don’t lose it. This phone has a blue tooth that is attached to the bottom. This makes it so much simpler to remove it when it is not in use.

Not only does this phone solve the problem of losing the blue tooth headset, but it also comes with sleek, silver accents, and a huge TOUCHSCREEN. The phone does all the typical features , a clip on the back, a digital camera, etc. Then it gives the user total freedom to choose whether to use the blue tooth or the phone, keep the headset charged at all times without a separate cord and adapter, and there is no question of compatibility between the earpiece and the touch screen phone that the user wants.

The only small possible negative to this phone is that the ear piece does get its charge from the phone battery. This means that while it is plugged into the phone and not in use, it is drawing power away from the phone battery. This could end up depleting the battery power more quickly than the typical phone. Yet with all the other gadgets available to do quick phone charges, and the common accessory of the car charger being so inexpensive, it does not appear to be a huge drawback.

This looks like it will become the newest “must-have” in the techie world. One can hardly imagine what they will come up with next!
